What is Harryfest?
Harryfest is the tongue-in-cheek name given to gatherings of two or more fans of the singer/songwriter Harry Nilsson. The name was insired by Beatlefest, a convention for fans of the Beatles. Beatlefest is now known as "The Fest for Beatles Fans" but Harryfest is still "Harryfest."
There have been five major Harryfests im 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002.
The first, Harryfest 1998, was hosted by Curtis Armstrong in Glendale, California. Curtis was in a play, and wasn't able to attend most of the events, but his wife, Elaine, stepped up as a perfect host.
The next year, Harryfest 1999, was hosted by Sue Schnelzer in Covington, Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio.
In 2000, Harryfest 2000 returned to the Los Angles area, again hosted by Curtis Armstrong.
Harryfest moved across the ocean in 2001. Harryfest 2001 was held in London, England, and hosted by Pam Murphy, Marc Harry, and others.
Harryfest 2002 was held in Orlando, Florida, and hosted by Roger and Bracha Smith.
